The Lanky Lovers

Well it’s been way too long since I posted an image from the Series on Love and when I was going through some of my drawing folders I found this. I think I drew it 5 years ago. Its really different for me, but there is something about it I really like. I think it’s her expression or their super lanky hands. I don’t know :) but I hope you like it. I’m working on a new picture that I started last night and am hoping to finish it by Monday. I can’t wait for you to see it. I hope you’re having a great night!

The Nurse Lady

So for a while now my family has been telling me to post some of my older drawings and rough drawings that i have never posted. So every now and then, i’m going to post some really old drawings. The drawing today is one i did back in 2007 for a friend of a friend’s band t-shirt. I’ve always liked this drawing. There is something about 1930’s nurses that are so classic, i love it. I hope you like it.

Book update: Up to 192 pages in the book! ;)

Creative Direction Web Design

The Dream Walking Society Website!

Ladies and Gentleman, my dear friends,
I’m so excited to tell you that The Dream Walking Society finally has a website! I spent this last weekend designing and coding the website. I am so happy to finally be able to share the concept with you. So to quote the website,

“The goal of the Dream Walking Society is to embrace the age of digital communication and to collaborate, experiment, and explore making music with musicians all over the world. The theme of each of our projects corresponds with the up and coming book series by Igor + André.”

My friend Tim and I wrote the rough tracks for 21 songs over the last year. In the next few months we are going into the studio and starting to record the songs. I can’t say who’s going to be on the album yet just because nothing is official yet… but some of the musicians scheduled to play on the album are some of my all time favorite musicians. Check it out! I hope you like the site and I’m so excited to share everything to come with you! :)

Artist Danny Roberts Character sketchbook drawing of Anna Mariya Urazhevskaya

Volume 3

Anna Mariya Urazhevskaya #225

Wow, I just sat down to type up this post and it hit me how tired i am. So if things are spelled funny or sentences don’t make sense, it’s just because my brain is slowly falling sleep as i type. hah :) Well, finally today i started back working in volume three of my Character Sketch Book. I can’t remember the last time i drew in it. So i picked up a pen and drew this one of model Anna Mariya Urazhevskaya by Michelangelo di Dattista. It’s the 225th drawing in my Character Sketch Book and i like how it turned out. Reminds me a bit of Tim Burton. I hope you like it!

Book Update: We finished chapter 7 today and are currently 176 pages into the rough draft.

Artist Danny Roberts blogger portrait series painting of Blogger and Lucky magazine editor John Jannuzzi

Portrait

John Jannuzzi

Well after two years, i’m happy to present you with my 37th portrait in my Blogger Portrait Series.. It’s really hard for me to believe that it has been 2 years since the last one in the series. It’s scary that time can move that fast. It feels good to start the series back up again. It’s kind of a cool different thing doing blogger portraits now than it was when i first started it. When i first started it about 4 or 5 years ago, my main goal was to give back to the bloggers that have inspired me, and for the most part, i didn’t know any of the bloggers. Looking back now, it’s crazy to see how many of them i consider good friends. So it’s my pleasure to feature my friend, the man, the myth, and the legend, Mr. John Jannuzzi. For those who don’t know John Jannuzzi, he basically is a blogging machine. He is a Contributing Digital Editor at Lucky Magazine, he runs a blog called Textbook. Textbook is a site where John styles his favorite characters throughout fashion, literature, history and music. He also has a few other blogs, To my Wife, and Rogue Bicycles Not only does he have all these great blogs, he also has one of the most entertaining twitter accounts i’ve ever read. It’s pretty much a household favorite. You can check out his twitter here. I hope you like the portrait and do check out John’s sites. i know you’re going to like them. :)

Rasa In Motion

Well, today has been kinda a crazy day, but all in all, it’s been good. I’m happy to finally have a drawing processes video of Rasa Zukauskaite for you. It’s been so long since the last one. I can’t even remember when the last time i did one? It was either the Proenza Schouler video or the Elle Fanning video? So the other day, I busted out the ladder and tied my tripod & camera on to it and drew and painted while the camera snapped to its heart’s content. I know you’re probably thinking cameras don’t have hearts, and they might not, but mine does ;) Anyways, 435 pictures later, and some editing… I present you with this stop motion video. The Music is by my friend Tim Frost. Tim is a co-member of the music group we are in called the Dream Walking Society. The song is from his album called “Bead Box” that he made for his son all with Nintendo sounds. It’s pretty much one of my favorite albums. Hope you like it.

Models Portrait

Rasa Zukauskaite

Well, i finished the mixed Media painting i was working on with enough time to post it today! Mission accomplished ;)
So, the picture today is of the lovely Rasa Zukauskaite. I posted the rough draft sketch of the picture a few posts back and finally finished it this afternoon. It was one of those pictures that i had a vision of how i wanted it to turn out, and when i was 80% done with it, i decided to take it in a different direction. I’m really glad i did. The reference picture i got from Rasa’s Flickr page (do check her Flickr page out) and I think it was a self portrait she had done. The mediums used were pencil, water color, color pencil, and pen. I’m planning on putting up a stop motion video of making this portrait tomorrow. I hope you like it.

Book Question of the Day: If you had a pet eagle, what would you name it?

Well it being a nice laid back Sunday, we decided tonight would be a good night to watch some of our favorite old movies, so we pulled out our humphrey bogart Collection and are currently watching “The Maltese Falcon”. It’s such a fantastic movie. But anyways, the drawing today i actually did six years ago. I drew it mostly blind contour for the outline. The whole thing was done with black Micro Pen. It is drawing #46 out of my character sketchbook series. It’s really hard to believe that it has been that many years since i drew it. Feels like yesterday. I hope you like it :)
